OttLite Giveaway – Enter for a chance to win!

otto light

I LOVE to craft.  From sewing, beading, clay, crochet, knitting you name it I love it.  What I don’t love is not being able to see what I’m doing.  This wasn’t such a problem when I was younger but as I’m getting older my poor eyes need a break.  I bought a OttLite about 6 years ago.  My friend had one and she swore by it.  So, I went ahead and bought one for myself.  It’s very similar to this one only in white.   I have had that lamp all these years and use it almost daily.  It has never need to had the bulb replaced and works great.  I don’t know how often others have had to replace the bulb but mine is still going strong.

I like how the light is white and doesn’t seem to strain my eyes.  I also like that it gives a more natural light and helps me to distinguish colors and see clearly.  I’m so excited that my friends from OttLite have offered this lamp for me to be able to do a giveaway and share with my blog members.   The lamp is the OttLite slimline task lamp as in the picture above.  It’s lightweight and super portable.  I keep mine on my desk where I do a lot of my daily work.  I also move it to the table next to my soda so I can crochet or knit while watching TV.  If you would like to enter for a chance to win you will need to do the following:

1) Become a member by simply adding your name and email address.  You will find the link at the top right hand corner of my blog.

2)  Leave a comment on where you would use this lamp.  You can also just leave a comment saying why you want to win.

It would be great if you shared this blog post with your other crafty friends.  Heck I have a friend that uses her to read because she loves the white light.

A winner will be selected at the end of this week and will be notified via email…now do you see why I need your email?   Remember, this giveaway is only open to members so sign up today.  It’s free and I will never share or sell your info with anyone else.  Enter today and good luck!

Happy Crafting,

Yolanda

  88. Jodi May 19, 2015 at 6:10 pm #

I would use this lamp in our future craft room. My two kids and I are a pretty close unit. Going through adversity makes you appreciate what you have and know what’s important and the kids are my everything! We love to craft together and we all three crochet now as my son just learned his first single crochet! We would really enjoy this light and it would get a lot of use. Good Luck everyone!

  89. lpwells1 May 19, 2015 at 6:14 pm #

As I am getting older I have a lot of trouble seeing without proper lighting. We had to move into a very small apartment that has no ceiling lights, and cannot afford to buy more lamps due to a very limited SS income. I love to do several different types of crafts, knitting, sewing, crochet, etc. but the lighting in this apt. is very poor. I can only craft when the sun is shining brightly. I would use this light everywhere in my apt. Thank you so much for the chance to win this lamp.

My husband sleeps really early as he wakes up early. But I can’t sleep so early so I like to sit and crochet or knit. But he keeps complaining about the light being on. I could really use this lamp as I can crochet all I want when he’s asleep without him complaining. It will be a god send.

  96. Heather Brand May 19, 2015 at 6:56 pm #

I really could use the help of this lamp in my new apartment, my eyes are already strained in the single ceiling fan light. I would be able to see my crocheting much easier! 🙂

  97. Dree May 19, 2015 at 6:59 pm #

I would use this for arts and
crochet and reading. Thanks for the giveaway !

  98. Esther Nieves May 19, 2015 at 7:02 pm #

I would put it on my desk so I can use it to crochet and do all my arts and crafts, I live in a basement and the lighting is so awful. I wanted to thank you for all your wonderful videos I have learned so much, I can make a beanie in my sleep now. lol

  99. Betty Brock May 19, 2015 at 7:17 pm #

I live in an apartment with no ceiling lights. I have to rely on table lamps for lightning. I would love to win this!

  100. Evelyn May 19, 2015 at 7:18 pm #

I have very poor lighting in my sewing room. I have been looking at an OTT light for a while. A quilter friend showed me hers and that it was a true light. I’d also like to get my elderly parents one for reading.

  101. junebug585 May 19, 2015 at 7:28 pm #

I would use it by the chair where I always sit and crochet or sew. I would also use in on the table when I have the sewing machine out doing quilts. Thanks for the great channel.

  102. gloria May 19, 2015 at 7:30 pm #

i could use this lite for doing all the crafts from your videos,i know i am straining my eyes because i dont have the right lighting.i have a cataract and have a hard time seeing in an area that is dim. i want to thank you for teaching me so many nice items to make

  103. Robin Ed May 19, 2015 at 7:30 pm #

Right now my ‘craft room’ is our spare room so I usually just work in the living room near my dogs and family. But there is no overhead lighting and just one lamp. Having a better light source for my work would be amazing 🙂

  104. Barbara Hood May 19, 2015 at 7:38 pm #

I sew in the corner of my dining room, the light is behind me and a lamp like this will help me see my needle area better. I want to win!

  105. stitchwishes May 19, 2015 at 7:43 pm #

I’m just learning to quilt, and I had no idea I’d need better lighting than for the bits of sewing I’ve done over the years. My lighting is terrible and I love to quilt at night, so I wait until daylight to check colors and I’m always straining my eyes and neck to see my sewing machine stitching. I used to have a portable light for knitting, but it broke so I just make do. How fabulous that this light is portable! Now I’m imagining knitting and crocheting on the back porch on summer evenings!

  106. TJ Stapleton May 19, 2015 at 7:45 pm #

Not only do I want the OttLite and would love to win it, But I need it. I crochet all day and night, all over the house. If I win i Could spend more time with my family.

  107. Sharon Arnold May 19, 2015 at 7:47 pm #

I am already signed up and I LOVE your posts. My 80 year old Mother has problems with her eye sight that makes it imperative that she have a strong light in order to read or craft. She loves crocheting and knitting but trying to get enough bright light to be able to see her work has been a problem. This is why I would LOVE to win your lamp.

  108. Linda Damron May 19, 2015 at 7:52 pm #

I am SO excited to have found this chance to win such a coveted prize!! 🙂 I’ve poor lighting in my living room where I craft, no matter how bright I get my bulbs. Getting old, dimmer vision and glaucoma setting in is frustrating. My email is ‘ima win win’, but I think I’d rather ‘ima winner’ !!!

  109. Selene May 19, 2015 at 8:05 pm #

I would use the lamp on my desk, it’s where I do a lot of my crocheting and my crafting overall. I crochet, draw, sew, and just overall craft haha
    Good luck to everyone 😀

  110. Freda McClellan May 19, 2015 at 8:14 pm #

I would use the light for my crocheting my eyes need a boost

  111. Ana Rosa May 19, 2015 at 8:29 pm #

I love to knit and crochet. If I get a chance to win I would use it in my knitting corner (place in my house where I knit and crochet). I will also use it to read patterns and books. I tend to work with dark colors which makes it hard to see where your needle goes. I would be forever grateful if I win. Thanks so much for all the projects that you share in this community.

  112. teri Wolfe May 19, 2015 at 8:35 pm #

I would use this Lamp to help me see better when I crochet, I am getting older and my eyesight is not what it used to be. I love to crochet and could not imagine having to give it up. Have a blessed night. 🙂

  113. Susie Leniart May 19, 2015 at 8:36 pm #

I would love to win this lamp & would use it on my end table on my side of the couch, LOL. I also, like that it looks very portable if I need good light to craft by in any room of my house.

  114. Gloria Montez May 19, 2015 at 8:40 pm #

Yes, I would love to win this lamp…my living room has poor lighting and that’s where I go to do most of my crocheting, then I have a small lamp near the computer where I watch crochet videos…
Thank you for sharing all your patterns…and I really like the way you teach because you go slow for us old folks

  115. Melissa Stewart May 19, 2015 at 8:45 pm #

I sit in a little chair in my front room and I have to use this giant lamp behind me so I can see. So I would replace my giant lamp so I can sew. Watch everything you do btw. Luvin it!!!

  116. Myrna Keener May 19, 2015 at 8:48 pm #

I was diagnosed with age related macular degeneration about a year ago. I need better light to see to crochet with darker yarn and to read. Reading and crochet are my favorite activities. I would be most grateful to win.

  117. Katherine Loftis May 19, 2015 at 9:01 pm #

I would use that light when I crochet. I am 63 and I crochet items for Silver Dollar City at Branson, MO and am constantly crocheting to keep up. Very often I have a hard time seeing my stitches.

  118. Joann Garman May 19, 2015 at 9:13 pm #

I could really use one of these lamps. I wear glasses and it is hard to see the stitches when I crochet. Plus there is not enough lighting in my living room to see.

  119. Kristine Imob Lopez May 19, 2015 at 9:22 pm #

i would use it in my craft room TY

  120. Jennifer Joseph May 19, 2015 at 9:22 pm #

I always wanted to have the light but couldn’t afford one would love to win it

  121. Val Cruz May 19, 2015 at 9:26 pm #

Thank you for giving me a chance to win one of your products that you use for crafting. From what you had posted of your opinion on this lamp, it sounds like the best one yet.
I love to crochet a lot and love making projects all day. That’s what I would use this lamp for. I even love your crafty ideas and make them too. But I notice that I’m now starting to strain my eyes more and more everyday. And thank you again for the opportunity to win this lamp.

  122. RD May 19, 2015 at 9:30 pm #

The lighting in my room isn’t great so a lamp like this will help me see better at night when I’m studying, crocheting, etc.

  123. Sharon Bucci May 19, 2015 at 9:52 pm #

Hi Yolanda I would use this lamp on my craft table when working daily. My eyes are getting much older but that is not the only reason I have been looking for a new lamp to use and since the draw is going to be on my birthday thought that might bring me some luck. But win or lose thank you for the draw and I love your channel.

  124. Wm May 19, 2015 at 10:13 pm #

Thank u for being so kind! I would love to win the lamp bc I never seem to have enough light… Unless It’s warm and sunny and crocheting on my porch!

  125. Lisa May 19, 2015 at 10:39 pm #

I would use this lamp when I crochet.

  126. Ms Hernandez May 19, 2015 at 10:50 pm #

  127. Tasha Standley May 19, 2015 at 10:51 pm #

  128. MissCat May 19, 2015 at 10:52 pm #

My vision is very bad. I love to crochet, but do not have good lighting. I have been praying for an Ott Light. I love your tutorials. Peace & Blessings to you

  129. Debbie May 19, 2015 at 11:05 pm #

I would use this lamp on my craft table either when beading, crocheting, or sewing. At the same time that I am crafting, I would save energy as I am sure that this lamp uses less energy than having the ceiling light on. Thanks!

  130. Peggy Bowe May 19, 2015 at 11:19 pm #

This light would seem to help me at my corner of the couch where I crochet. I use reading glasses to make sure of my crochet stitches because overhead light isn’t close enough to see stitches good. Thank you for allowing me to join your blog & learning from your videos. You are one of the amazing people who taught me how to crochet through YouTube a little over 2 yrs. ago. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!

  131. Nina May 19, 2015 at 11:24 pm #

This light help me to match thread and yarn colors. Now I have problems with the colors shades using common light bulbs

  132. felecia May 19, 2015 at 11:28 pm #

I do a little bit of everything, craft, recycled/repurposed things, crochet, building things, u name it….I never used to have trouble seeing things until I got chalazions in my eyes. Now everything is hard to see, usually double visioned, especially the little stuff I like to see or do. I cant afford glasses, so I use some reading glasses and lots of light. This would be so amazing to make my crafting life so much easier and make my perfectionist personality not so ocd for the things I cannot see. Thank you so much for the chance and I hope to win this awesome giveaway!

  133. melissa montoya May 19, 2015 at 11:31 pm #

I have learned to crochet this past year mostly by watching You Tube and your videos are my favorites. Thanks for teaching me. I have made a lot of progress and I am now to the point of making more complicated projects. I am currently working on a baby dress. I spend several hours most days crocheting and I would love to have this light. I have a hard time seeing my stitches sometimes, especially when using dark yarn. I would put this light on the table next to my favorite chair. I hope I win!!!!! I really appreciate that you offer all this free help. I will send pictures of a few of my projects if I can figure out where to put them

  142. Rosanne Harvey May 20, 2015 at 2:29 am #

I really enjoy your videos. I would use this lamp at the couch while I watch tv and crochet and also at my bed since sometimes when I’m cold I crochet in bed. I tried a regular lamp and it just wasn’t up to the job.

My mom and I like crocheting, she sometimes have a little trouble seeing her stitches as no light is very helpful most of the times is too bright and she can’t do much unless there is day light. So we could use that lamp to help her see her work better that way I don’t have to recheck her work…. I love you channel and your work too.

  150. Leah Seals May 20, 2015 at 4:37 am #

I Will use the lamp next to my recliner where I spend most of my days. I am disabled and am learning to crochet by watching you tube videos. I am really enjoying all of the contributors hints, tips and tricks as well as all of the step by step tutorials. I have learned so much but now I have noticed my eyesight is having problems because of all of the close up work and the late, late nights. The Ott lite would help relieve my eye strain tremendously.

  151. Janice May 20, 2015 at 6:33 am #

  154. Connie Olsen May 20, 2015 at 8:00 am #

Yolanda, I just wanted to say thank you for educating me more about crocheting. Ive always made afghans and doilies, but since I came across your channels, Ive learned to make hats for my neighbors kids and much more! As I get older (and im 54), I love to crochet. As I get older I could use a light too lol. But more than that, I rely on your help to make the beautiful things Ive been able to make. And remember, God loves you too!!!

    Connie

  155. murcam49Claudia May 20, 2015 at 8:00 am #

I, too, am relying on older eyes to see my crocheting in action and for reading patterns. Help me! It would help with my other crafts, too. Thanks for your continually good ideas and inspiration <3

  156. Elsie Teal May 20, 2015 at 8:14 am #

What a wonderful addition to my craft area. I would use it every day as I have problems seeing dark yarns like black when I crochet or knit. Then at night when I read. I live in a older home that the light is not the best. I love doing all kinds of crafts and you have so many it easy to learn something new every day. Have a super fantastic day.

  161. Darivel Ramos May 20, 2015 at 10:00 am #

My grandma was a very crafty person. Sadly enough, my grandma was lost lots of her strength and mobility in her hands and could only teach me her ways in short periods of a time. Thanks to Yolanda, I have learned to crochet and have been for about 3 years. My grandma is greatly proud of the projects I have completed. I would use the lamp while making baby items that I never sell and gift to friends or donate to Everyday Miracles, a non profit organization supporting women during pregnancy and after delivery.

  162. Grace Moran May 20, 2015 at 10:01 am #

I would absolutly use this lamp when I am crocheting or doing my other crafts. Besides it’s my birthday today – 45 years old and I really understand what you mean when you say that it was diffrent when you were younger 🙂 I don’t have the eyes I used to, for sure!
    Wish everyone good luck 🙂

  168. Elaine May 20, 2015 at 1:09 pm #

    Hi Yolanda,
I would love to win this lamp because I have recently returned to crocheting but have light sensitivity. My eyes get tired fast and I was thinking the OttLite would be great for me. I’m enjoying crochet again after leaving it for several years as well as your videos. I am a much better crocheter now and have many projects planned for friends and family. The OttLite would allow me to work longer instead of be limited secondary to my eyes.

Thanks so much for your consideration,
    Elaine Johnson

  169. Ashley May 20, 2015 at 1:31 pm #

    Hi,
I would use it all the time for crocheting and for when I’m learning to knit. It’s really hard to see in my living room because we only have lamps and no center ceiling light so this would be extremely useful for me.

  170. Cindy Marshall May 20, 2015 at 1:47 pm #

First of all, I absolutely love watching your YouTube videos! You are so kind and patient and just do a great job overall! I have wanted one of these lights for a very long time but they can be quite expensive. I love to crochet, make homemade cards, home decor diy things and many many others! In the near future I’m going to teach myself how to knit. You are such an inspiration! Thank you for everything you do!

  173. Henisha May 20, 2015 at 2:49 pm #

    Rachel Soto

  182. Karen McGraw May 20, 2015 at 7:06 pm #

  185. Jeamye May 20, 2015 at 7:55 pm #

I’d definitely use one of these in my craft room!

  186. Elizabeth Torres Pagan May 20, 2015 at 8:56 pm #

Hi. Luv your videos. You have a great way of teaching on your videos. Thanks. I would luv this lite because it would help me with my vision. Especially when I deal with black yarn n my beading n especially in making rosaries to give away. The electricity here is very expensive n I m disabled n have the energy saver lights (to help save money on electric bill) which do not help much at nite. I have been saying that I need a lite like this but here where I live it is very hard to even find craft supplies let along neat lites. It will be a wonderful Birthday present (May 31- I will be 57) ;);). Again thanks for your sites n videos they keep me sane n busy. God Bless you.

  187. Faustina Festorazie May 20, 2015 at 9:09 pm #

I would love to win this lamp as it would enable me to work on my crochet/knit/cross-stitch crafts much easier on these old/ tired eyes. I would most definitely use this lamp in my crafting corner and near my chair at night when I watch tv and try to do my crafting work. This lamp would help tremendously and would enable me to accomplish so much more in a shorter time. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a great gift.

  188. Ronisa May 20, 2015 at 9:28 pm #

If I win the lamp, I would use it for two purposes. The first would be to see loops of yarn on my needles and the second would be to help my indoor plants grow. 195. Barbara May 21, 2015 at 1:31 am #

I would give this lamp to my mama. Almost 2 years ago she lost her eyesight to macular degeneration. She went from 20/20 vision to 20/400. After being blessed with a wonderful doctor and by God himself, her vision is now at 20/80. She has gone through months of injections into both her eyes. She loved to crochet, hand and machine embroider and read her daily newspaper. Now she wears a +300 bifocals plus a magnifying glass to do these things. Her only complaint throughout all of this is she has to sit by the window to get good lighting. We have tried a few lamps but they were too bright or makes the colors look different. I would love to give her this lamp so she could sit back and enjoy doing her hobbies again.

Hello Yolanda, I’m so excited for the opportunity to win this light! I would appreciate winning the OttLight Lamp because it would help make my life easier. Circumstance has made it so I spend my day divided between laying down in bed, sitting in a straight chair or standing. I would be able to take this light from room to room. It looks like I could use this lamp to better see at any time of the day or night to crochet, paint and read. I’m so happy to be part of this Christian community on YouTube. God loves you too, Yolanda! I’m sure you know that. I pray God showers you and your work with favor.

  217. Nancy Laska May 22, 2015 at 10:52 am #

Hi Yolanda, Thank you for the opportunity to win the OttLite. I belong to a knitting group of mature women (all in our 50’s and 60’s) and in the room we meet in, the lighting is not sufficient for all of us (9). We try to arrive at the meeting early to get a prime seat near the better lighting. I think it would be great to be able to share this light with my fellow knitters so we can all get a better look at what we are doing. Especially those of us who like to knit with dark colors. ;-p

  218. Jan Malone May 22, 2015 at 11:08 am #

I have a floor ott-lite and have had it for many years. I first used it for cross stitch to help my eyes with all the details. Then I used it for reading books. I’m a mystery lover. I had been using my ott-lite way over 6 years when I accidentally knocked it over and broke the bulb. I missed it so much while waiting for the new bulb to arrive. I could certainly use a second ott-lite for the area in my bedroom where I have a small table and chair.

🙂 Gracias

  237. Beatrice Bomba May 24, 2015 at 12:24 pm #

I would probably use the lamp at my desk. Yolanda, two, maybe three years ago, I watched one of your youtube videos and followed along, stitch by stitch, and made a little sweater. That gave me the confidence to try more. I have since crocheted about a dozen baby sweaters for charity, several doll sweaters, and multiple sweaters for my two daughters and myself. Thank you for what you do. You are an excellent teacher.

  238. Samantha Callahan May 24, 2015 at 1:25 pm #

i would love to win this light i would use it on my craft table , the lighting in my home is not that great and sure could use better lighting , but i’m on disability and have to be very careful on how money is spent , and another reason is the light is BLACK , my favorite color , it’s hard seeing dark colors and i know this light would be a great help crochet is a form of therapy for me and if i could see the stitches better i’d be able to crochet a bit faster and better .
