Easy Crochet Snowman Ornament

Christmas season is in full swing.  It seems every store has their Christmas decorations up and on display.  I see so many cute Christmas ornaments.  Some affordable and others not so much.  Since time seems to be at a premium I wanted to share a quick project.  These little snowman ornaments meet the requirements of quick, easy and cute.   We used to make these little ornaments when we were kids so it brings back great memories.   You can use them on the tree or put them on your presents in place of a bow.

You can make them with any type of yarn (and weight) and hook size.   Of course the bigger and heavier the yarn the bigger the snowman.   This is a good project for using up your yarn scraps.    I uploaded a youtube video tutorial and it has been well received.

Materials To make your snowman ornament:

pom pom maker (I used the clover brand)   Press here to purchase   (Affiliate link)

scraps of red and black yarn

less then 1 oz of white yarn

a small scrap of orange felt

scissors

bobble eyes (I bought mine at the dollar store)

To begin:

Legs (make 2 with white yarn )  Chain 30, 2sc in 2nd ch from hook,  3 sc in each chain to  last ch, fasten off

Arms (make 2 with white yarn)  Chain 25, 2sc in 2nd ch from hook, 3 sc in each chain to last ch, fasten off

Head:  Make a pom pom  (with white yarn)  I used the Clover Pom Pom Make

Scarf  (Make 1 in red yarn):   Chain 40,  sc in ea st beginning in 2nd ch, fasten off.. weave in tail

Putting it together:

•  Place legs in center, arms on the outside.  Now take your tails and tie all pieces using a square knot
•  Take tails from pom pom and separate.  Wrap around the legs/arms  and knot using a square knot.
• Trim the tails to the same length as the yarn of the pom pom.
• Take a strand of white yarn (approximately 15 inches long).  Wrap around neck and knot.. make a second knot on the 2 end tails.  This will be used to hang your snowman on a tree or to place it on a gift.
• Wrap the scarf around the neck of snowman
• Enjoy!
