Adding a Crochet Rose to any item is a beautiful way to embellish your hats, scarfs, blankets, etc. This crochet rose is easy to make. It has become one of my favorites crochet rose and I really like how easy and fast it is to make. You can use any size hook (appropriate for yarn weight) and any type of yarn. To make this large rose 4″ (10cm) I am using a size J/10 6.00mm and medium weight yarn. You can adjust the size by changing up the size of your hook. The larger the hook, the larger the rose. The smaller the hook the smaller the rose.
Easy to Crochet Rose Instructions:
To begin:Chain 74
Row 1: 1 hdc in each chain beginning in 2nd chain from hook.
Row 2: ch 3, skip 2 st, sc, *skip 2 st, sc* repeat from * to * to end of row
Row 3: (1st third of ch-3 spaces), ch 1 (counts as sc), [hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc] all in same ch-3 sp, *[sc, hdc, 3dc, hdc, sc] all in next ch-3 sp*, repeat from * to * for your remaining first third of work (stop when you reach your stitch marker).
Row 3: (2nd third of ch-3 spaces), *[hdc, 5dc, hdc] all in next ch-3 sp*, repeat from * to * for next 1/3 of stitches (stop when you get to your next stitch marker)
Row 3: (last 1/3 of ch-3 spaces), *[hdc, 7 dc, hdc] all in next ch-3 sp*,repeat from * to * to end of row, fasten off
Sewing the rose together:To begin:Roll strip like you would a fruit roll-up.You will begin sewing the bottom edge of the strip (on the first row of hdc) the petals will remain free.Work a little a time. This is the wrong side of your work.
Keep rolling and sewing your rose to your previous rolls… your piece will be taking shape on the reverse side.To see a video tutorial you can go to my YouTube video tutorial. When you finish rolling up and sewing your row (bottom edge) sew in your tails. You can now sew on a clip orjust sew your rose onto a hat, scarfs, etc.I prefer to sew a jewelry type of brooch pin to the back of the rose. This allows me to remove the rose from my item in order to be able to wash my items or to use my rose on multiple pieces.I hope you enjoy this Rose.

Crochet these baskets if you’re looking for a way to contain and organize your small items. They can be made in various sizes. They work up quickly and easily. They also make a great gift for baby showers, just fill them up with baby items, or make a set of 3. Size shown above is the small size. Measures 6 1/2 ” by 4 ”
Gauge is not important. Instructions are for small size. To increase size of your boxes add an additional 3 -4 ch in your beginning foundation row. All other instructions are the same. I used at the same time. I used the Bernat Blanket Yarn. It can be purchased at Joann or online at Yarnspirations
In a pinch for a quick, easy and inexpensive gift. There are so many times I get invited to someone’s house, get-together, etc. I don’t like to show up empty-handed. So, here is a quick, easy and inexpensive gift. I call it my emergency traveling sewing kit. This little sewing kit in a mason jar makes a great gift. All supplies can be purchased at your local Walmart, Rite-aid, etc. This is a great kit to have in your desk at work, while you’re traveling, or for a child going off to college.
You will need the following supplies.
One small mason jar (the kind for jelly)
1 small sewing kit (I bought mine at the dollar store, but you can find them at Walmart, Rite, CVS, etc.)
A little bit of fiber fill
Small piece of fabric
Ribbon
Hot glue gun
First: Cut your out a fabric piece about an inch larger in diameter than your lid.
Take out inner lid from jar, and insert fabric into opening, lightly stuff with fiber fill. Insert inner lid (with rubber) on top of your fabric and batting
Now tack down the excess fabric with a glue gun. Be careful not to burn yourself. Now add the items of your sewing kit. You can also add a small card.
Screw lid back onto jar. Wrap a small ribbon around lid (you can secure with hot glue) and tie into a bow. Your gift is now ready.

In this post I will show you how to sew a Lining to your crochet bag. Follow these steps to line your bag. You will need about 1 1/2 yards of fabric. Please note, this lining fabric will show thru your granny squares so be sure to get a color you like and that coordinates with your bag colors. For best results please block your Granny Squares BEFORE sewing on the lining.
You can purchase your fabric at your local fabric store. I purchased my white fabric at Joann Craft and Fabric Store. Hobby Lobby also have a a nice selection of fabrics.
