Crochet Fun Snood – Kids of all ages will love this

Kids of all ages will love this crochet fun snood. It works up quickly when using chunky weight yarn. I used the Bernat Blanket Yarn from Yarnspirations. It is soft and I really like the texture. I used the color: Pumpkin spice. The ears I used the chocolate color. The ears and the snood can be made in other colors if you prefer. I think this snood is a fun way to stay warm. The Bernat Blanket yarn is nice and warm. I made the adult/teenager size. You can purchase Bernat Blanket Yarn from your local Joann’s store or go online to Yarnspirations.com for more selection.

Crochet Super Scarf using Chunky Yarn

Now you can crochet a super scarf using chunky yarn. I have created this pattern using a Jumbo weight yarn from RedHeart. It is called “Grande” yarn. I chose the “Foggy” color since this could work for most wardrobes as it is a neutral color. Since this super scarf uses this chunky yarn it works up very quickly. I wanted to design a pattern that would be easy enough for beginners to crochet. I hope you like this scarf. I wrapped it around myself several times and it feels so plush and comfy. I usually don’t use Chunky yarns but creating this pattern allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and use a chunky yarn and the Boye ergonomic hooks. I am really pleased with how it came out. Autumn is here and it’s Pumpkin Hat time

Pumpkin hat time is here. It seems everywhere I look traces of Autumn are finally arriving in my neck of the woods. OK, so I live in San Diego, California and there aren’t many signs of the seasons changing. However, stores are now decorated with items that remind us it’s Autumn. Pumpkins are making an appearance in windows and advertisements. Halloween is just around the corner. Pumpkin spice lattes are brewing and I am crocheting pumpkin hats.

I decided to design a pumpkin hat that can be worn by babies to adults. I used medium weight acrylic yarn for my hat. The hat in the photo I used an H hook however by adjusting the hook size the hat can be made for various sizes. Here is a suggestion for hook sizes. Please remember that everyone crochets with a different tension and these are just suggestions. I used a fpdc (front post double crochet) stitch to simulate the ridges on a pumpkin. You can choose any shade of orange and green for your hat. You could even choose a ten or brown color as pumpkins come in a variety of colors.

Today’s Project is a Robot Crochet hat

A robot crochet hat showed up this week. (Insert Star Wars music here). It’s a BB-8 Inspired hat. A Robot Crochet Hat!

I have been a Star Wars fan since the beginning saga in the 70’s. The whole idea of a fantasy world is always fun. This past year Star Wars released their latest film “The Force Awakens.” I have to admit that the last few Star Wars movies (Not the original series) was not really my favorites. However, this last film “The Force Awakens” I really liked.

Robot Crochet Hat

I found it refreshening and fun. I really enjoyed the introduction of the new droid BB-8. I have been wanting to make a hat inspired by his fun personality but with so many other things going around that it has taken me this long to get around to finally crocheting one. Learn to Knook.

Do you want to learn to knook but thought it was too hard. It’s easier than you think and it creates beautiful “knit” look items. I have seen the knook kits around and several people have commented they wanted to learn how to use them. Since I knit I didn’t find much need for learning. However, after receiving so many requests for tutorials I decided to try it out. My friends at LeisureArts.com were kind enough to send me several sets to try out. I have played around with them a while back but then life got busy and I didn’t have time to really try them out.

This week I uploaded 2 new videos on learning to knook. They are short videos that hopefully explain how this little hook creates the same stitches as traditional knitting. The first video will teach you how to create the “knit” stitch. Click below to watch it.
