Fun, Crochet Summer Handbag

Summer is a great time to crochet and this fun, crochet summer handbag is the perfect project.  I made this crochet summer handbag using t-shirt yarn.    I used a product from  Hoooked Zpagetti.  I was given this product when I attended the Association for Creative Industries (Formerly CHA – Crafts and Hobby Association).    Learning of new products if always a highlight of the event.

There are many video tutorials for making your own t-shirt yarn.  You can find tarn (t-shirt yarn) at many stores.  I’m not beginning to see this material used in many different projects including handbags, rugs and even some stuffed animals.  I hope you enjoy this project.   I have also included a link to the video tutorial for visual learners.

Plus Size Crochet top for Women

This plus size crochet top is a result of many requests.  So many of you have requested patterns that are plus sizes for women.  I designed this easy crochet plus size top to be both comfortable and pretty.  This easy crochet plus size top uses rectangular shapes and some easy shaping.  There are only 3 pieces to this top.  I think you will enjoy making and wearing it.  The top should fit most 2XL – 3XL (although everyone is different).  I measured a friend who wears between a 2XL and 3Xl for the sizes.  I understand that not everyone is shaped the same but I designed the top to be pretty forgiving.   I have also included instructions for a medium size, approximately 38″ bust.   Plus, I have also included a link for a YouTUbe video tutorial.

Crochet Boho Vest – Perfect for Spring and in a Plus size too!

A Crochet Boho Vest has been on my to-do list for quite a while.   I have received so many requests to design a Boho Vest and I finally did it.  I had been putting it off since it is still winter.  I designed this boho vest using Caron Cakes by Yarnspirations.  These cakes are available exclusively at Michaels stores.  I used a new colorway called Mixed Berry.  I really like how the colors transition nicely and are already coordinated.  It helps when trying to match colors.  There are so many colorways that I’m sure you’ll find a combination you like.

The woman size fits most however,  I did add some directions for a plus size.  The plus size should fit 16 – 18 sizes (maybe even larger) since the pattern allows for a nice drape and extra coverage where we need most, around the tushie. : )     If you would like to purchase an Ad-Free PDF Pattern please click here:   Boho Vest PDF Pattern

Chunky Yarn Crochet Cowl – It’s Super Fun and Easy

A chunky yarn crochet cowl makes a comfy and fast project.  Using chunky yarn means you’ll whip right thru your project.  Using Bernat Roving Yarn from Yarnspirations I designed this crochet cowl.  I chose two of my favorite colors.  I selected Plum and Quartz Pink for my chunky yarn crochet cowl.  This yarn is so soft.  It is made using 80% acrylic and 20% wool yarn.  That means it will be nice and warm without being too hot.   It is really soft and feels great against my skin.If you haven’t tried this yarn you are in for a treat.  This is my first it using it and I know I will be using it often.  I love discovering new yarns and fibers.

It’s already warm in my town of Chula Vista, California, however much of the USA and World is still chilly.  This cowl is a nice way to layer up.  It can easily be worn under a sweater, jacket or even just a top.   The picot edge gives it a nice touch.  You can wear it standing up over fold it over as in the photo above.  The project can be made in a single afternoon and would make a great gift.

Beautiful Crochet Messy Bun Hat with Shell Stitches

“Messy Bun” hat,. that is what I was thinking of this week.  I wanted to work on a Messy Bun” hat that I could use during warmer weather.   This is important because I live in Sunny Southern California and rarely have days that are cold enough to warrant wearing a hat.  Even our winters are usually mild.  This year thankfully we have received more rain than the last 15 years.  This is great because California has been in a severe drought for the past 5 years.

I want to be ready for the warmer weather and hopefully, by that time, my hair will have grown enough to put it in a pony-tail.   This post includes the written pattern and video link for my free YouTube video for those who prefer to watch a video.  If you want to purchase a low-cost  Ad-Free PDF pattern please click here:  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/shell-stitch-messy-bun-hat

Messy Bun Hat

Crochet “messy bun” hat

The inspiration for this hat while I was working on a shawl for my aunt.  I was using a shell stitch and thought about how I really like that stitch, especially when the shells increase each row.   I did a little few math calculations.  (Remember when you thought back in school that you would never use math?  Well, here I am using the stuff I learned back then.)  After a few attempt,  I came out with a hat that satisfied m.  I hope you enjoy this hat pattern.  I love how it kinda of has a little of a vintage look and it’s so sweet and feminine.

If you are a fan of “Messy bun” hats I shared an earlier version a few weeks ago.   That hat is so fast and easy and uses a simple “mock” ribbing edge.   If you want to see that post please click here:  https://allcraftschannel.com/2016/12/easy-crochet-messy-beanie.html
