Ombre Shawl using Caron Cakes by Yarnspirations

I love Ombre shawls, using the Caron Cakes by Yarnspirations I was able to design this beautiful shawl.  I wanted to take full advantage of the ombre effect created when using the new Caron Cakes by Yarnpspirations.  This design allowed me to make a shawl that would show off this beautiful effect.   I want to thank Yarnspirations for sponsoring this post.  This design and ideas are my own.  This shawl will make a great gift or make it for yourself.  Caron Cakes are exclusive to and available at Michaels stores.

Crochet Cape / wrap

Crochet Capelet / Wrap

Learn to crochet this Cape

Summer is here and in full swing.  It seems like we’ve had a very warm summer here in San Diego and are suffering from humidity.   Arggh, yes I know to some that is a normal part of warm weather but not here.   We finally got some rain which we desperately needed since we have been in a sever drought for several years now.  The bad part is that these rains brought humidity which doesn’t usually happen.

I’ve been looking for projects to work on that aren’t too heavy or warm.  Here is a capelet I designed a few years ago.  I used an acrylic blend but of course you can use a cotton yarn for comfort.  It is something that you can wear just to cover your arms or on an evening when it’s not too cool.  The written pattern can be purchased at my Ravelry store.  Just click here:   Capelet Pattern

Minion Fingerless Gloves

Minion inspired projects seem to be everywhere.  I must admit that soon I will reach the point of saturation when perhaps I will be over them.  Luckily that time hasn’t yet arrived.  This week my granddaughter asked me to make her some fingerless gloves (also known as wristers).  She specifically said she wanted them to resemble the Minions.  Since wristers are pretty basic to make and I had already written an eyeball pattern I decided to combine them here.  I hope you enjoy this project.

Crochet This Easy Bag Made using Granny Squares

I decided to crochet this easy bag which is made using granny squares.  Summer is almost here and so are the outings we all enjoy.  If you enjoy granny squares here is another great project.  You will need to make 3 granny squares with 12 rounds each.  (Each square measure 18″ square). You make make it with any colors of your choice, or all one solid color.  Please note this is a large bag.  It measures about 25 inches by 25 inches without handles.   I am working on a video tutorial and it will be available on my youtube channel on  4/ 15/13 after 7pm PST.
