Yes, I got on the Messy Bun bandwagon
Today I want to share a pattern for an Easy to crochet “Messy Bun” hat. I have received so many requests for an easy pattern. So, by popular demand here it is. This is what I came up with for an “easy” pattern. You can follow the instructions for rows 11-12 for a mock rib brim or just continue with double crochet for a plain edge hat. Either way, it looks and fits great. So, “Let’s Get The Party Started!”
You will need the following supplies:
Approximately 3 1/2 ounces of Medium weight yarn. I used RedHeart Supersaver Cameo – Color Mirage
Crochet Hook (I used a size I ) for larger heads use a J hook. For children use an H hook
I apologize for this photo. I was having technical issues and just couldn’t get my beautiful photo to upload so I was stuck using this one. Boohoo

If you like Messy Bun hats here is another hat that I just posted using Shell Stitches: http://allcraftschannel.com/2017/02/crochet-messy-bun-hat.html
To begin your “Messy Bun” hat:
Chain 24, being careful not to twist your chain slip st into 1st chain
Round 1: chain 3 (counts as a dc here and thru-out), dc into each ch (total 24 dc) sl st into 3rd ch
Round 2: chain 3, dc into same st, 2dc into each st (48 dc total) sl st into 3rd ch
Round 3: ch 3, dc into next 4 st, 2dc, *dc into next 5 st, 2dc* rep from * to * to end of round, sl st into 3rd ch (56 total dc)
Round 4 – 10: ch 3, dc into each st (total 56 dc), sl st into 3rd ch
Round 11: ch 3, *fpdc, bpdc* repeat from * to *, sl st into 3rd ch
Round 12: ch 3, *fpdc in previous fpdc, bpdc into previous bpdc* repeat from * to *, sl st into 3rd ch. sew in tail
Finishing: Sew in all tails
ch 75, pull ends taunt and make another knot on each end. Trim off excess yarn tail. Weave the drawstring thru first round of hat on every other dc post.
I left the ends of my drawstring to the top of the hat so that I can have easy access to adjust the opening.
