Easiest Crochet Baby Slippers / Booties Ever!

Easiest Baby Slippers.. Adjust to your needed size

These are my easiest baby slippers / booties ever! Theses little slippers / booties are super fast to make and use very little yarn. I used an acrylic medium weight yarn but the sizes could be adjusted. They work up so quickly you can re-make a new one in a different size if it doesn’t quite fit. They make perfect last minute gifts and won’t break the bank. If you like you can embellish them with little flowers, bows, felt cut-outs, etc.

This slipper is approximately 5 inches from heel to toe.  You can adjust the size of bootie/slipper by using a smaller hook (for smaller sizes) and larger hook for larger size.  You can also adjust by adding or taking away rounds.    (Please note I used a large size hook in the slipper on the photos to make it easier to see.

Skill level:  Beginner +  (You need to be able to work a magic circle/loop)

Here is what you will need:

Hook  G / 4.25mm

Medium weight yarn

Yarn needle (if you choose to sew up seam).

Instructions for crochet baby slippers:

To begin:  Magic circle,  Chain 2, 10dc into circle,  pull shut, sl st into 2nd chain

Rnd:  Ch 2, 2dc into each st, (total 20dc), sl st into 2nd ch

Rnd 3 – 5:  ch 2, 1 dc into each st (total 20dc), sl st into 2nd ch  (approximately halfway from toe to mid foot, you can adjust and add more rows if needed)

Rnd 6: Ch 2, 1 dc in st leaving 4 stitches unworked.  (photo 1)

Rnd 7 – 11:  ch 2, turn work, 1dc in each st  (after last row the slipper should fit the foot snugly, you can add more rows if needed)  (photo 2 – 3)

Turn slipper Inside out.  Fold slipper in half.. seam up along row 11.   You can either use a yarn needle and sew it shut or work a sl st along the two layer.  Fasten off, sew in tails.  (photos 4 – 5)

Turn slipper to the right side.  Attach yarn anywhere on slipper opening.  (foot opening),  (photo 6)

Rnd 1: Ch 1, *work 2 sc into each dc post (one into the post and 1 into the ridge portion of the dc) for the front corners work sc2tog (decrease)*,  rep from * to *, work 2 sc into each dc post (one into the post and 1 into the ridge portion of the dc) for each remaining dc post., sl st into 1st chain  (photo 6 – 9) )

Rnd 2: ch 1, 1sc into each st, work a decrease in each of your front corners.   Fasten off and sew in your tails. (photo 9)

CAUTION:  These slippers can be very slippery on smooth surface floors.  I usually take some fabric paint and swirl some lines on the soles of the shoes to help them grip better.  (I slip in some paper inside the slipper to keep the paint from staining the rest of the slipper.   Let the paint dry and then you can use them.

These basic baby booties/slippers can be made quickly and easily.  They don’t require much yarn and are a great way to bust up your yarn stash.

Thank you for this pattern. I have always wanted to make booties, but they don’t seem to work for me. I am going to try your pattern Yolanda and see how it goes.
