Cushions for your Crochet Hooks – Say good-bye to sore hands
I have thought of ways to add affordable and comfy cushions for my crochet hooks because I love, love, love to crochet… did I mention I love to crochet? One of the bad side effects can sometimes be sore hands especially when using small hooks. I have come up with a cheap way to cushion my hooks. This method works for even my tiny thread hooks. You can find your supplies at any office supply store or even in the school supplies section of a store. I purchased some at Office Depot and others at Dollar Tree store. They both seem to work well.
Here is what you will need:
Pencil Gel Grips, Rubber Bands.. and of course your hooks.
First wrap a couple of rubber bands around your hook. There are packages of different size and thickness of rubber bands. I purchased my rubber bands at Office Depot but you can purchase them at any office supply store or even at Walmart.
Now slide your gel pencil grip over your rubber wrapped hook. Work the gel slowly so you don’t slide it too far past your hook and end up too close to the crochet hook tip.
You’re all done. If you want to check the hook size you can just slide back the gel. The rubber bands keep the gels from sliding off. Even on your small hooks. I use them on all my hooks even the larger ones. Some of them have been on my hooks for months or even a couple of years. When they start getting old it is easy to replace.
I hope this quick tip helps. Do you have tips for easing sore hands or pain in your hands from crocheting or knitting? Please share them in the comments.
P.S. I have even seen these pencil gel grips at the dollar store. 10 grips for $1 Can’t beat that price.
